So I’m at the APP Interop at Google today, and discovered that, in fact, it is possible for two Zunes to be in the same place at the same time.

Proof,

Okay, so I was hesitant to post this picture, as the look on my face showcases just how rare of an event this actually is. To my left (in the picture, right from my physical location in the picture) is a much more cool and collected Joe Cheng. Yes, Joe works for MSFT, but none-the-less, this was a completely random event that took place, so I’m blogging it! ;-)

And to answer one of my own questions, as per the photo below, yes, you can send non-DRM’d content from one Zune to another, which from one perspective (the song is wrapped in the 3 Day, 3 Play Zune-to-Zune DRM blanket) could be seen as a bad thing, but if you think about how much effort must have gone into getting the record companies to allow such a feature (it certainly makes it a lot easier to “pirate” music with your friends if you can just wirelessly and randomly send it to them) to me, anyway, it’s pretty amazing they were able to pull it off.

And for the record, each of the folks here at the interop (correction: A few of these folks were already gone before this event took place) are witnesses to the event. Of course, they also witnessed the previous two failures of sharing content from the Zune Marketplace, but none-the-less, witnesses they are.

Update: QOTD > James Snell: “The only time I’ve seen two Zune’s together was at Target on the shelf.”
