My hometown, St. Louis, is hardly one of the great meccas of the computing world. Places like San Francisco, Seattle, and New York were the first to have local training available. Yet, even here in St. Louis, if you want Ruby on Rails training you now have more than one choice (competition is good). Last year OCI unveiled local RoR training, and now Inspired Horizons is doing the same. I’d be willing to bet that this is quietly happening all over.
Help prove me right. Do you live in a place that is not considered one of the computing hot spots, yet you still have local Ruby or Ruby on Rails training available? If so, post a comment and tell us about it!
We have been pleasantly surprised by the demand for Rails training across the country. I blogged about this over the summer when Obtiva's first Rails course unexpectedly sold out ... while the Pragmatic Studio is certainly the superstar of the Rails training world, there is a Long Tail effect that many independents and small businesses can take advantage of.
I am a grad student at DePaul Univ. in Chicago. After requesting more open source tools in the course options (they are MS-only), I was told 'we're working on it, but we need to keep the market in mind.' A few months later, the below link was quietly added to their certification programs:

I still can't use Ruby (instead of say, C#) to fulfil my grad-level web-dev requirements, but its' a start.

FYI: The Spring quarter for the DePaul course was cancelled due to insufficient enrollment. Sad. I was 4 blocks from the campus and work was paying 100% of the cost!
I am delivering Rails training for Harper College, Palatine, IL this Fall 2007.
Although, I'd have to say that Palatine is a suburb of Chicago which of course is where 37signals is located and obviously not off the beaten path. Hope to see if we get the enrollment necessary for it to run.
