I think Lindows is abusing the rhetoric against Microsoft and trying to make money over the media's bias against Microsoft. They should go bankrupt. They lied to their customers about windows compatability. They are not a first class company.

The comment is indeed harsh, in the rather thoughtless way far too much dialog in our industry is. As far as the specific accusation, it simply isn't the case that Lindows "lied" about windows compatability. Early on, while they were still in beta, they said they intended to make their OS compatable with all Windows applications. They spent a lot of money trying to engineer that, and in fact succeeded in supporting the major Microsoft applications - Word, Excel, etc. But ultimately they failed to support Windows apps across the board for the same reason everyone else has failed (though a few have come close; WINE for instance) -- Microsoft refuses to publish the complete specifications for its applications, what analysists call the public interfaces. Lindows was completely open about this, and by the time version 1.0 came out they were making no claims about Windows compatability beyond the basic Microsoft applications. As far as the writer's assertion that there is some animosity to Microsoft from "the press" -- that's an awfully odd way of characterising a very generalized antipathy toward the company. One wonders just who he works for.

Anyone who isn't against Microsoft must by your definition be a Microsoft employee and therefore an untrustworthy evil maniac by proxy?

Maybe some people just see things in a less biassed way than you do...

Lindows is indeed a hoax launched purely to spite Microsoft and pull money out of the pockets of unsuspecting managers and consumers who have been taken in by the anti-Microsoft craze (which is entire created by jealousy for Microsoft's success).
