The fine folks running Comdex, Vegas have asked us for some help putting together a booth showing off some of the best of what open source has to offer. Well, we’re gonna ask you for some help. See, we only have limited space and soooo many possibilities. We need you to vote on a final six.
Taking into account that this isn’t going to be an intimate gathering, but a melee among the throngs of what is Comdex, we’ve put together a list of twenty one projects that we thought would have a good ‘presence’ (think shiny objects and some loud noises), and would do us proud at the show.
We’re going to put the final vote in your hands. Please visit our voting page to vote for three projects you’d like to see representin’ at Comdex. Of twenty one choices unfortunately we only have space for six so choose wisely and send some of your favorite projects to Vegas, baby!
This is a big deal for these projects folks. Let’s make some noise for this one. Trackback this page and/or leave a comment with an URL to where you’re mentioning it.
Fine print: You can only vote once a day, but you can do so every day up to Oct 31 when the vote will conclude.
Don’t feel bad if your favorite project isn’t on the list… we didn’t exclude anyone on purpose. Vote for the one we did include.

I'm sorry, the 'vote once a day' clarification doesn't make much sense. Are these votes cumulative, or is only the most recent vote counted?

I would have added Ethereal to the list. If there's one open source application that's beating the high-price competition it's Ethereal.
What does "represented" mean?
Hi,
What do you mean the projects will be represented? For instance, if Subversion is one of the 6 projects selected, will ORA be funding some Tigris.org people to go, or will Subversion be presented by some ORA representatives?
If it's the former, how far away do the representatives have to be before it's unfeasable?

We're working with the projects to get them to represent their own projects. Who knows them better than the authors?

It was on the original list of 40. We had to narrow it down somehow.

Nice, but...
This "Open Source Goes to COMDEX" initiative sounds nice... and very I'm glad that ZOE somehow managed to get nominated... but... I'm utterly confused about the specific details of this "contest"...
"cumulative" votes? This sounds very, er, peculiar to say the least.
And to follow up on Dave's question: who is going to represent the selected projects? And how? Is COMDEX and/or O'Reilly sponsoring the entire event? Or are the modalities of going to Vegas left at the discretion of the selected projects? Is there any additional information anywhere regarding those "logistical" issues?
