Instant Messaging Planet reports on IETF efforts to integrate location data with presence notification. Definitely a taste of the future here, and some issues that need to be dealt with.

Is physical location so important these days. With all the communication media we use all day we wonder. Isn't your virtual location more important, e.a. the program you are watching, the person you are phoning, the site you visit, the files you few more important or at least getting more and more important than your physical whereabouts. We are trying to facilitate this with what we call "Swarming".
