I always thought that it would be really great if cellular providers would use their positioning technology to broadcast free hazardous weather condition alerts to subscribers using towers in storm ridden areas. There are lots of other value added things like this that they could do to promote there data services.

I know it is a kind of useless, but sometimes it can be important......

I voted for yes. Although I understand that we are no longer living in the 60s, and listening to the radio in the public is a kind of "un-cool" (By the way, why listening to MP3 is cool, listening to the radio is un-cool anyway?), somtimes it may be very important for us to get some real time news, and weather report from the radio.

10-15 years ago? Yes. Today?

FM radios in cell phones would have been great ten or fifteen years ago when grunge and indie rock were putting life back into FM radio. Today they seem futile in an age when bubble-gum music and idle babble rule the airwaves; when classic rock stations are dying in major markets; and remaining rock stations hike the tempo of the music to fit in more commercials.
On the other hand, given that teenagers fuel cell phone sales in this country, integrated FM radios just might work.

People still listen to FM?

I dumped FM for XM about 18 months ago, about a year after I dumped the cable company for a satilite dish.
I still read a newspaper though - no Internet access on the train and a 4 hour commute is a long time.
