Sales Representative
The sales representative will increase market penetration of O’Reilly products and services across all channels, generate new sales, maintain and service existing accounts, build account relationships, monitor budget strategically and effectively in conjunction with sales team, and analyze the market and trends of the industry and of each account so that efforts to increase sales are maximized. This position reports to the Director of Sales out of our Sebastopol, CA headquarters offices.
Responsibilities
- Assist in development of programs to grow sales of our books and other print publications and products in all markets, including promotions
- Work with sales coordinator, customer service, order entry, warehouse, marketing and accounting to coordinate timely shipments
- Assist accounts receivable in resolving billing issues
- Prepare content for newsletters
- Provide effective feedback to editorial department
- Work as needed with peer sales representatives to analyze trends and successful promotions
- Attend trade shows and conferences as needed; effectively represent the company and our products and services
- Participate in the preparation and planning of conferences and trade shows
Minimum Requirements
- 5+ years experience in book publishing industry
- 5+ years experience in sales
- Strong experience with cold and warm telephone prospecting
- Must have a proven track record in selling, closing, and exceeding quota
- Advanced knowledge of publishing industry
- Advanced knowledge of sales concepts
- Working knowledge of order process, fulfillment, and accounting policies and procedures
- Familiarity with existing and emerging digital technologies
- Ability to create trade show displays and cooperative promotions
- Ability to initiate travel and work independently offsite (travel up to 25% annually)
- Ability to sell both on the phone and face-to-face at client sites
- Excellent reasoning and problem solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong negotiating, organizational, leadership, and relationship building skills
