Sales Director-Maker Faire
Maker Media, a division of O’Reilly Media is devoted entirely to the growing community of resourceful people who believe that if you can imagine it, you can make it. Prepare to have fun in this high visibility position! We will look to you to develop, implement and manage all sales efforts for Maker Faire (www.makerfaire.com). Your ability to reach out to key decision-makers, potential corporate partners and others to close deals will be critical in helping the division realize or exceed sales revenue goals.
Responsibilities
- Sell sponsorships; exhibit space, marketing promotional opportunities and custom programs for Maker Faire and Maker Media events.
- Develop and implement sales strategies that maximize revenues for events and ancillary products.
- Target and track key accounts (from a media planning perspective – events/print/and more).
- Develop custom proposals for target accounts.
- Build and maintain effective and productive relationships with customers and prospects.
- Develop and communicate sales strategy and articulate clearly established objectives.
- Tracking of client and prospect contacts through sales contact management software (Salesforce.com).
Minimum Requirements
- 5 years relevant sales and sales management experience with a proven track in at least one of the following industries: advertising, consumer products, media, consumer events/shows or publications.
- Excellent proposal writing and presentation skills.
- MS Office and a CRM software package (Salesforce.com).
- BA/BS degree and/or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- 50% travel.
