Publishing Technologies Specialist

We're looking for someone who has great technical aptitude, a keen eye for detail, and an interest in working as part of a dynamic, cooperative team to produce high-quality content in an evolving publishing environment. Specifically, you will provide technical support for Production staff through all stages of their workflow, support authors and editors in preparing content for production, and work with tools used within Production and across the company for access to and manipulation of book files and other content. If it's in a book, was in a book, or will be in a book, you'll have your hands on it somewhere along the way, helping ensure we continue producing the kind of books that have earned us an enviable reputation for quality.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary (must want to understand and solve other people's technical problems -- especially non-technical people).
• Strong understanding and application of working with XML (DocBook XML, XHTML or similar).
• Proficiency with Unix/Linux or Mac OS X command-line navigation and basic utilities as well as Unix shell scripting and regular expressions.
• Experience working with scripting and automation tools (Perl, Python, or Ruby).
