Software Engineer - TripIt

TripIt is a next generation travel-related site founded by experienced online travel executives and entrepreneurs. We are venture backed and are moving quickly to tackle the largest category on the Internet (travel). The company is pre-launch so this is a great time for a talented individual to join our team. Responsibilities

Do you like to solve problems that people claim are impossible to solve? Are you interested in the semantic web and in helping make it a reality? Do you like travel? Are you interested in joining an early stage company where you can have a real impact on the success of a new type of business?

We are looking for an engineer who is motivated to solve the challenging and unique problems that will help TripIt build a new and innovative type of travel business. The position involves the development and maintenance of TripIt's core technology that parses semi-structured data and turns it into well typed travel objects.

The position involves an understanding of pattern matching and data parsing. The ideal candidate will have a clever mind, a keen eye for detail, and experience in test-driven development.

Minimum Requirements

• At least 3 years of prior software development experience
• Strong understanding of web and web-related technologies
• Server-side application development in Python, PHP, Perl, or Ruby
• Strong command of pattern matching technologies such as regular expressions
• Familiarity with XML and XML Schema
• Solid development habits and practices
• Natural problem-solver and troubleshooter
• Comfortable working in a GNU Linux/Unix environment
• Four-year college degree in related field, or a combination of relevant experience and education
