Acquisitions Editor - Open Technology Exchange

The acquisitions editor is responsible for finding, acquiring, developing content that can be distributed in the form of books, articles, shortcuts [smaller chapter length documents], podcasts and videos. The published content will be primarily targeted to developers, programmers and other software professionals.

In this position you will be responsible for collaborating with authors, developmental editors, and reviewers to craft content. You will work closely with production, marketing, and sales to publish high quality products. You will also be expected to anticipate and resolve content problems related to time, cost, quality, and scope. We are seeking a self-starter who is able to manage multiple tasks for multiple projects that are under various stages of development and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Finds and evaluates proposals.
• Identifies, develops and acquires projects within our criteria.
• Provides feedback to authors on proposals, reviews, and manuscript pages.
• Manages schedules and deadlines of select projects.
• Commissions and manages technical reviews for manuscripts.
• Work with engineering to define reporting requirements and presentation standards.
• Manages release of books to production and to the market.
• Works with marketing, sales and publicity to champion projects.
