Bio

Sean Crawford is a web developer for the O'Reilly School of Technology. He began programming in 1997 to support his vocation as a beach and ski bum. He worked as a front-end web developer for several years, and then as a project manager. In 2007, after a foray into Asian healing arts and a yearlong trip around the world, he decided to work again with code, so he went back to school to study computer science. He then landed an internship at the NASA Ames Lab, working on a joint NASA and Google project, Google Mars, before joining the O'Reilly School of Technology.

Sean is also an aspiring cognitive scientist and believes that the key to solving many of the world's problems is in finding ways to support people to be healthier, happier, saner, better educated, open-minded, and especially to be creative problem solvers. To balance his work life, he likes to play harmonica, hike, snowboard, snorkel, travel, and spend time with his family and friends. He also likes to remodel old school buses. The photos of his 3rd and most recent bus project went viral on the web last year. You can view photos of his project here.
