Bio

Alan Cohen is a software/electronics/systems engineer specializing in medical devices. Since childhood, he’s enjoyed working with technology, and (even better!) using it to solve problems.

At Cornell, he majored in electrical engineering, minored in neurobiology, and managed to graduate. Since that time he’s also done a lot of software engineering, from embedded code to web applications, and has contributed to, or led the development of, numerous FDA-regulated products ranging from defibrillators to brain-wave monitors to wearable heart monitors. Alan is currently helping to bring a system to market that kills cancerous tumors by precisely scanning them with a proton beam in three dimensions.

Besides writing this book, he has authored articles in several technical publications and a college textbook on computer communications. Alan is also a speaker at technical conferences and holds seven US patents.
