Debra Woods

Bio

Debra Woods is the Academic Director at OST. A steadfast advocate of learning by getting your hands dirty, she has over 25 years experience teaching students from middle school through university levels to do just that. Debra developed the first online courses offered at the University of Illinois, as well as a high-quality and economically sound model for online learning. In 2010, Wolfram Research awarded its prestigious Innovator Award to Debra in recognition for her work integrating Mathematica into online learning. She is an advocate of constructionist education models, as well as the notion that human instructors provide students with far better grading feedback than computers. Debra has presented talks and workshops all over the world on teaching computer-based math. When she's not immersed in the world of online education, Debra may be found globetrotting, immersed in Latin dancing, and savoring fine chocolate and red wine.
