Reg Green
Reg Green is known to people around the world, not by his own name,
but as "the father of Nicholas," a seven-year-old boy who was shot
in Italy on a family vacation. The killing became a worldwide news
story when he and his wife, Maggie, donated Nicholas' organs to seven
Italians.
He began his career in journalism with The Guardian, in
Manchester, England, then moved to the London Times and London
Daily Telegraph. He emigrated to the United States in 1970,
became head of public information for the Investment Company Institute
in 1973 and started his own mutual fund news and public relations service
in 1984. Although his specialty is economics, he has written for almost
every page of the daily paper: sports, music, book reviews, travel,
editorials, obituaries, etc. He has traveled extensively, has
bachelor's degrees in economics and history, and has had six
children. He and Maggie live in Bodega Bay, California, with the
three youngest Greens.
