Biography
Laura Parker Roerden is a teacher, writer, and curriculum developer. As the
director of publications for Educators for Social Responsibility, she has
worked for several years developing materials that help teachers empower
their students. She has consulted and written on many different topics
including the use of the Internet in education.
Laura holds a masters of education degree from Harvard University in teaching
and curriculum. She has taught children grades 4 through 12 in settings as
varied as traditional classrooms, the deck of ship, and on SCUBA 100
feet beneath the sea. Laura is the author of The Harbor Speaks, an
environmental curriculum from Ocean Frontiers, a contributing author with
William J. Kreidler of Early Childhood Adventures in Peacemaking, and editor
of many education texts, including Conflict Resolution in the Middle School
by William J. Kreidler, Linking Up by Sarah Pirtle, and Teaching Young
Children in Violent Times by Diane E. Levin.
