William Gurstelle writes books, lectures, and provides professional engineering services (in states in which he is licensed.) He graduated from the University of Wisconsin's College of Engineering and then obtained a graduate degree in business from the University of Minnesota. He has 25 years of technology and industry experience.

Bill is a producer of the PBS television show MAKE:Television and has an on-air role as host of the Maker to Maker segment.

He is a best selling author and inveterate tinkerer whose popular books capture the spirit of fun and excitement that permeates the world of personal science and technology. As a presenter, his speeches colorfully describe the creativity, innovation, and camaraderie that transforms plain science into radical, technological self expression.
