Simon Barber

Bio

Simon Barber has extensive development experience in Flash, Flex and Java. Simon is a leader in the Flash and Flex community in South Africa.

He started his career as a Java developer in the UK working for a media development company on high profile client projects including Fulham Football Club, Johnson & Johnson, Euro Tunnel, Harley Medical Group, Historic Royal Palaces, SAP, Kettle Chips and Travel Inn. He then returned to South Africa to start his own company focus on Flex development and complete his Bachelor of Science degree.

In 2005 he was approached by Wiley Publishing in the USA to co-author Professional Flex 2. This in turn helped kick start his fledging company ThoughtFaqtory of which he is currently Chief Software Architect and Director.

Simon has worked for leading international companies in the health insurance, finance and government sectors, including social networking projects.

Simon currently resides in Cape Town, South Africa.
