Bio

Susan Estrada has been involved in the Internet since 1985 with over fifteen years in the telecommunications business. In 1988, she founded and built CERFnet, an Internet service provider located in San Diego, California. She was involved with the planning for the original NSFNET in 1985, when 56 kilobit per second links were considered to be high-speed and cost ten times more than they do today. Susan has been active in Internet organizations, such as the Internet Society where she is currently a member of the Board of Trustees, FARNET, CIX, IESG, and IETF. She also enjoys teaching various classes about the Internet and is president of Aldea Communications, Inc. Susan has a home in San Diego with her husband who has a different last name, two children, a dog, a fish, and a rabbit.
