Bio

Maciej Ceglowski is an oil painter and independent programmer with an interest in artificial stupidity - teaching computers to mimic deep understanding through simple algorithmic tricks and shortcuts. His main interests are in statistical natural language processing and the automated analysis of literary texts. Ceglowski's projects include Languid, the open-source statistical language identifier that powers Technorati, Pasta, a text-pasting service for delicous, and LOAF, an experimental distributed social network he co-developed with Joshua Schachter. Ceglowski is currently living in Beijing, working on an open-source restaurant bookmarking application for New York City with a team of Chinese engineers. He keeps an online art gallery at oiloncanvas.net and a weblog at idlewords.com.
