Customizing a Web Gallery
by Mikkel Aaland01/01/2008
Lightroom ships with several templates for creating web photo galleries. You can customize these templates and save your own version. Choose between building an HTML or Flash gallery. When you are finished, export all the necessary files and place them on a server yourself or let Lightroom do it for you. Let's see how.
To start, you must first select the images you wish to include in the Web gallery.
Selecting Images
In the Library module, select a folder, collection, or keyword. If you are not in the Library module, hit the G key, and you'll be taken to the Library module's Grid view. Any image appearing in the display work area will be included in the Web gallery. I usually create a unique collection for each Web gallery. That way, I can preserve my image order, and it also makes it easier for me to update my Web gallery at a later date. You can also make your selection in the Web gallery filmstrip and then go to the menu bar and select Web→Which Photos→Use Selected Photos.
Select the Web Module
Now go to the Web module. If you are not there already, get there by clicking Web in the module picker or use the keyboard
+Option+5 (Ctrl+Alt+5). As soon as you enter the Web module, Lightroom begins generating or updating the gallery. You'll see the status of this operation in the status bar. Figure 12-20 You can modify the order of images in the filmstrip.
Select a Web Template
Select a Lightroom Template from the Template Browser. You can see a preview of the layout in the Preview window. In the lower left of the Preview window, a graphic indicates whether the style is HTML or Flash (circled in each example). Here —taking into account variations in color, type, and captions—are your basic Lightroom template gallery choices:
- Galleries with separate windows of thumbnail images that lead to windows of full-sized images. This basic style can be either HTML or Flash.

I have tried for many months (since Lightroom Beta) to get the output from Lightroom to work on a Vista machine running IIS7.0
I do not run an FTP server on the machine, so I upload the pages manually (I have access to the physical machine).
When I try to view the web gallery using IE7 or Firefox, I get an error as follows:
Server Error
HTTP Error 500.0 - Internal Server Error
Description: The page cannot be displayed because an internal server error has occurred.
Error Code: 0x80070005
Notification: BeginRequest
Module: IIS Web Core
Requested URL: http://localhost:80/vaaldam/
Physical Path: C:\Users\Alain\Desktop\13 04 2008 Dam Skiing\website\VaalDam\
Logon User: Not yet determined
Logon Method: Not yet determined
Handler: Not yet determined
Most likely causes:
* IIS received the request; however, an internal error occurred during the processing of the request. The root cause of this error depends on which module handles the request and what was happening in the worker process when this error occurred.
* IIS was not able to access the web.config file for the Web site or application. This can occur if the NTFS permissions are set incorrectly.
* IIS was not able to process configuration for the Web site or application.
* The authenticated user does not have permission to use this DLL.
* The request is mapped to a managed handler but the .NET Extensibility Feature is not installed.
What you can try:
* Ensure that the NTFS permissions for the web.config file are correct and allow access to the Web server's machine account.
* Check the event logs to see if any additional information was logged.
* Verify the permissions for the DLL.
* Install the .NET Extensibility feature if the request is mapped to a managed handler.
* Create a tracing rule to track failed requests for this HTTP status code. For more information about creating a tracing rule for failed requests, click here.
More Information... This error means that there was a problem while processing the request. The request was received by the Web server, but during processing a fatal error occurred, causing the 500 error.

Please help me out! I would love to be able to use this function, but it will not work. I am sure that there is someone out there who can help fix the problem.
Thanks in advance.
