  Hi,
  
  Thanks for this very informative podcast.
  
  I heard Mr. Long mentioned that he's a Cannon shooter and emphasized how we should think about grouping our edits before sending the TIFF out to Capture NX to minimize the number of masters.
  
  My questions is this...I just got the new Nikon D300 and it came with Capture NX, but I want to use Aperture to manage, while using Capture NX to edit some of my photos. I plan to shoot in RAW/NEF. So, since I will already be managing my originals as NEF, do I still suffer the library bloat caused by multiple round tripping? Does Aperture have some kind of "pass through", meaning can it just pass though my NEF (with perhaps some of my edits in Aperture), then do my edits in NX, then back again to Aperture? I was also wondering since I understand that my edits are really just instructions tacked onto my RAW image, I wonder if NX will add to what I have edited in Aperture and vice versa? I hope I posed my questions clearly, and thank you very much in advance.

  You should have mentioned Nikon Capture NX doesn't run natively on Intel Macs... I'd love to try it out...but I suppose it'd be impossibly slow under Rosetta....

  Another excellent article from Derrick Story and O'Reilly Digital Media!
  
  Outside of my own workflow the podcast with Ben Long is the first discussion I have heard regarding the use of Nikon NX alongside with the excellent applications from Adobe and Apple's Aperture.
  
  If I were to add anything to this very useful information it would be that even some of the basic applications such as iPhoto offer advantages the photographer may want to investigate. For instance iPhoto has, in my opinion, the best dust and spot removal tool. More thorough and significantly faster than what is available in the other process environments I have used. Also I have noticed that when Round-Tripping an image from iPhoto to Adobe Elements or Capture NX and back the option to restore image is reserved via the Return to Original function.
  
  All and all the many choices of process and conversion options available and the way they integrate so well on the MAC make the realization and deployment possibilities of images more exciting than ever.

• Aperture and Capture NX

  This podcast was very helpful as I have been using the Aperture 1.5 trial, but previously was using Capture NX for some things as well. The NX u-point adjustments are very powerful and provide some creative options that are just not available in Photoshop or Aperture, so it makes sense to apply the best tool for the given situation.
  
  I really like what I see in Aperture so far, and knowing Apple I expect the product to evolve into something special over time.
