Virtual Toolbox

by Derrick Story
Network Newsletter for 08/27/2002

Dear Reader,

ONLamp.com is like my cherished red toolbox sitting in the garage. Sometimes I go for days, even weeks without thinking about it. Then I need to fix something--a light socket, a door hinge, a picture hanger--and suddenly I'm so glad it's there waiting to help me.

If ONLamp were such a toolbox, it would fill your entire workshop. We've been adding new items every week for the longest time. (Sure wish someone would toss a new set of screwdrivers in my chest at home ....) For example, click on the "MySQL Articles" link in the upper left-hand corner of the home page. There's an amazing amount of information ready to help you with just about any DB question.

LAMP stands for Linux, Apache, MySQL, and Perl (or Python or PHP). The concept is that these are the technologies you can use for high-performance Web publishing. And we've been keeping each of these topic areas up to date. Next time you need to fix something on your site, or if you just want to spruce things up a bit, don't forget your virtual toolbox that's ready for action 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
