Radio Nights

by Derrick Story

Dear Reader,

One of my favorite scenes from watching depression-era movies is when the family huddles around the big-knobbed radio and listens to their favorite program. Today, our listening habits are a little different -- most folks only tune in during daily commutes and weekend baseball games.

But another form of audio programming is on the rise: the Internet broadcast. Live interviews and music streamed over the Web to your computer. A great example of this new medium is "The Linux Show" (www.thelinuxshow.com) every Tuesday night at 8 pm CDT.

Tonight's show features Tim O'Reilly talking about "The Strange Case of the Disappearing Open Source Vendors." If you've already read Tim's much-discussed article on the same topic, then you should enjoy tonight's discussion about open source's role in today's software industry.

And don't despair if you miss the broadcast; you can always download a replay from The Linux Show site.
