InfoWorld's Jon Udell interviewed O'Reilly CIO CJ Rayhill about Safari U and about how the way we teach and learn is changing. Udell says that now that professors can podcast their lectures we should be able to use the actual class time more effectively. Rayhill advises that we make sure our children can type, search effectively, and understand finance before heading off to college. The entire conversation is posted as one of Udell's Friday podcasts. He has given permission for us to edit it down for this program. (14:00)
14:54 Shooting Raw
Photographer and author Mikkel Aaland is very big on shooting digital images in the RAW format. He explains that it gives you a lot of flexibility downstream. He explains more in his book Photoshop CS 2 RAW. One of his biggest influences for leaving film for digital photography was Ansel Adams. You think of Ansel Adams and his beautiful black and white filmed images of national treasures, but as it turns out he was very interested in what technology could provide. (11:40)
