I have heard of people bidding on Gmail accounts, or offering all sorts of barters and trades, but now I am getting pleading emails directly. I thought the first one a couple of weeks ago might have been a fluke, but I seem to get about one a week. The latest email says:

I’m desperately trying to find a gmail invite from some kind person and I
was wondering if you would be generous enough to offer me one.
It’s no real hassle for you and it would mean the WORLD to me.

Please please please, at least respond even if it’s no.

People seem desperate to get one of these (and it is very nice web-mail, to be sure), but I don’t know if its worth the indignity of begging.

Besides, the next chance I have to invite people already has a long waiting list. This seems like something akin to the Toyota Prius, and you have to wait a year to get one of those.
