Where is Java 1.6 for the Mac? The Windows, Linux, and Solaris versions were released back in December 2006. That was 16 months ago! Sun's mantra of "write once, run anywhere" excludes Mac users.
@Trevor, I'd be very surprised if Sun doesn't announce something to address this gap, it was probably the #1 negative story in the last year wrt Java and Sun.
Sun seems to readily support Java ports of Ruby and Python, but it seems to turn a blind eye to Groovy, despite its widespread popularity with Java developers. Why? Will Groovy ever be part of the JDK?
@Craig, Sun is very eager to be more "ecumenical", as long ago as 2004 they sat down with a bunch of dynamic languages dudes at the Sun campus. The illustrious James Strachan was represented.
If I were translate your comment into a question, or a direction, I'd say you want me to find out if Sun "is down with" Groovy? Are they embracing JRuby at the expense of Groovy? Questions like that. Let me know if I've copied you correctly.
About the truly open and free (not as in beer) java sdk.
what's the updated roadmap for jdk7?
