The anti-nuclear hippie crowd is a largely nothing more than a well-established straw man. The number of people who oppose nuclear power is actually very small, those who care enough about it to act even smaller, thus their political clout is almost non-existent.
Those entities who currently reap great financial rewards from the current system are the ones at whom the daggers should be directed.

There is likely more truth to that than not. However, if you stand around a bunch of self-identified environmentalists and mention that one of the best options we have to reduce carbon emissions in the reasonably near term is nuclear energy, you can expect a good stoning. I think a lot of people can look at a VIC-20 and a Mac Pro and see the difference 30 years of technological progress makes, but nobody applies that to what a modern nuclear facility is like. Indeed, the new initiated thorium reactors can even be run on the waste products from the old reactors, reducing the threat our old radiological materials pose. Nevermind the fact they literally can't "melt down".
As someone who leans pretty far to the left in almost all political areas, it makes me sick when "my" side tends to view an issue in entirely reactionary terms.
So if you agree with Hani, why are you helping perpetuate this irritating meme?

I've been wondering for a while, why I keep ONJava in my RSS feeds. There's never much happening and when it does, it's usually pretty lame. I guess this makes removing it a pretty simple choice. Please let your editor know that straying from the topic into your personal demons is costing readers.
