Audacity 1.3.3 Beta
Audacity 1.3.3 Beta was released recently (May 18). This premiere multi-platform Open Source audio editor/recorder adds a surprising number of new features for a minor-point beta-update (1.3.2 beta to 1.3.3 beta). Mac OS X users will be happy to find that they can now import Quicktime files. There’s a new AutoDuck features that I’m guessing podcasters will find useful. But, there really are too many new features to list here. Check out the Beta release notes to see the descriptions for the many new features.

…service didn’t look like a free service. I haven’t signed up for it. But, I took a quick look at their site and it looks like they have a free 2GB storage service with 50GB available for $4.95/month. It looks like they have client software specific for Windows and Mac OS X.

Are you sure there is a limit on Mozy for the $4.95/month rate? It states "unlimited" backup.

Simdude: You are CORRECT! I didn't read the fine print near the table and assumed Mozy was using the word "unlimited" in the way cell phone service providers do when they say "unlimited" data but cut you off at around 5GB/month. Thanks for catching my error.
I've used Monolingual before. You can also strip binaries with the latest version. I've done that on a G4, before--though I haven't bothered with my current installation--but I hear that can be very unwise on an Intel Mac.

Like Mike ES indicated in his comment, Monolingual needs to be handled with care on Intel Macs. One wrong move will destroy Rosetta, and nothing short of a complete OS re-installation will get those files back. I'm a reasonably intelligent guy and I'm fairly tech-savvy but I still managed to destroy Rosetta when I ran this app.
Yes, I read the instructions/warnings ahead of time. I STILL screwed up my system.
My advice to Intel Mac users? Fear Monolingual. There are other apps out there that perform similar services without putting Rosetta at risk.
The only thing I use Monoligual for is to remove the languages - I don't go near the binaries. I have found that I have to run Mono after every install of a program or update, but it is worth it. It speeds up the optimisation on my machine considerably.
Simdude: I've been using Mozy for over a year. My requirements are very simple (one laptop, one desktop), and for these I have no complaints about Mozy at all. All the specs can be found on their web site, so not much point in recounting here. All I can add from a personal perspective is that even though I'm a non-paying customer I've found their support outstandingly responsive.
I use Mozy to unobtrusively keep backups of my work, and I actually rsync all my bulk stuff (photos etc) to a dreamhost account. But when my subs for the latter expire, I'm going to switch to Mozy for all my backups (and start paying). It really is trouble-free.
One caveat on pricing: the $4.95 is indeed for unlimited space, but it is per machine.
