The mobile phone market doesn’t need yet another innovative device design. We’re well-served by RAZRs and Treos and Dash’s (oh my!). But it desperately needs innovation in the smartphone OS area.

Right on! I want to take my *real* data with me (pdfs, .html files, .txt. files, some jpegs, etc).
Right now, I use a Palm (Clie, actually... UX-50) and a Symbian device (Nokia 6680), but they both leave something to be desired. I hate having to convert file formats. Really, I do.
Also, the resolution on most smartphones leaves something to be desired. Ah, I would love a Newton-sized (or slightly smaller) Mac with WiFi and Bluetooth. Something where I can just grab files from my regular Macs and do some light editing while in meetings or in the passenger seat of a car.
I know it's a pipe dream, but I sure wish Apple would fill this niche. The upcoming, rumored Nokia 870 may come close.
Along with the previous comments - I think this is a puff piece article, with nothing more than a quickly fired off comment to generate content and hopefully traffic in response.
The OS X of the mobile world already exists, it is called Symbian and it is already very successfully installed by many different "Smart Phone" makers.
Maybe Jim has heard of Nokia? Sony Ericsson? Samsung? Benq? etc, etc.
MacDevCenter is normally producing articles of higher quality, I certainly have grwon to expect more - and an greatly disappointed by Jim's narrow cast here.
Sorry, I don't really get the point of posting this article. I mean, expand then on the "MacOS Mobile", what features will it have, what screen, input device, specs, price, etc? Give us something more substantial than just a statement.
And how do you know that the iPhone won't be "MacOS Mobile" (whatever that is)? You don't since we don't know anything about an iPhone yet.
Aha, so we have to click on your link and read the full thing there! Well I guess I should have figure that out first. But don't we deserve the full text too? :-)
Ouch...
Do you really need to make such a statement?
