Apple just announced upgrades to iMac (Intel Core 2 Duo and 24″ screen) and the Mac mini (1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo). Why? Because it’s that time of year for new products and because Apple didn’t want to detract from their “big” (as in really big show) announcements on Sept. 12.
Good strategy. I like their focus. Oh, and BTW, the new iMac looks great!

Nice title. The announcement does clear some rumors out of the channel, and presumably focuses next Tuesday on media.
I'm still hoping for the turn-it-sideways touch-screen iPod. Rumor sites have said it's delayed into 2007, but mmmmmmmaybe that was an Apple-planted bogosity to throw off other device-makers? Pretty please?
BTW, spot-check me, but doesn't this make the just-removed low-end Intel Mac Mini the only single-core Intel Mac ever shipped? File that away for the trivia quiz.
I hope that isn't it for hardware updates. With PC makers using Meroms I would think Apple would follow suit. I'm holding off on a MBP purchase because I want Merom inside.

30 inch iPod? Surely not!
