And you may ask yourself - well, how did I get here?

(Once in a lifetime - Talking Heads)

So, now I am weblogging for Mac DevCenter. Wow. I started blogging in 2000 when it was not even called that yet and still I am kind of nervous about doing it here. It sure is an honor to work with you people.

So, who am I? I run Boinx Software, a small independent Mac developer based in Munich, Germany. I use Apple computers since 1976. More info will shortly be available on the webloggers page.

So, what am I doing here? I first met the great folks at O’Reilly back in 2003 when Boinx Software won the O’Reilly Mac OS X Innovators Award, 1st place International Category for our stop motion animation software “iStopMotion“. We certainly caught their attention when we won a second time in 2004, for our slideshow app “FotoMagico”.

I think Derrick Story agreed to let me blog here because he wants me to contribute the perspective of a commercial software developer to this community. You also may have to excuse the occasional spelling mistake and odd language, but you’ll get a little international flair in exchange.

So, what will be my topics? It is an exciting time to be a small Mac software company. O’Reilly is at the frontier of technology and we - Boinx Software - are at the frontier of its application. We actually use Asterisk in our company. We fight Spammers but are also fought as Spammers. We had to make the transition to Intel. And you’ll find that I am very passionate about how people use computers.

A couple of things left to do as I settle in, such as getting the knack of this publishing system, and off we go.
