For my last few posts, I’ve added images at both low and high resolution. (Click the low-res image to pop-up the high-res image, starting with the Veronica Mars post). Frankly, this is a bit of a pain to do. So I’m throwing the question out there: is this extra work worth it? Is it helpful to have the images display this way? Should I be saying “Click to Enlarge” on the photos? Thanks for any feedback!

If it is needed to convey information that is not big enough to be seen in the smaller version, use the pop-up, or another html page, just get the information to the readers.
If all the information is visually acceptable in the small version, you do not need the pop-up. ...
So, my answer is, what is the story you are telling? If it is needed to tell the story, use whatever you need, even if it is a streaming video. Convey your information. ...
Or go to work in a fast food restaurant, where close enough is acceptable. ;-)
I think in most cases the popup isn't needed. It's nice to have, but most of the time it's not needed to get the message across. For example in the images that showed the difference between the Dora files, the smaller images did a fine job at demonstarting the differnces. I'm with Jack, it's more of case-by-case basis that will determine if you need the big popup. Cool stuff, BTW.
