Samsung announced a 1.8″ 32GB flash drive. The rumor is Apple will announce the Intel based iBook (or Macbook amateur :-) sometime around April 1 (their 30th anniversary). Although unlikely, it sure would be nice if the new iBook came in at 2 pounds (or less) with the 32GB flash drive and a 12 hour battery life.

I have an iBook G4 with a 30GB hard drive. So, I will be just fine with a 32GB flash drive for the way I use an iBook (mostly note taking, writing, web browsing, email, and ssh-ing to my servers). I’m already pretty happy with the 3 to 5 hour (real life usage hauling it to a conference or other meetings) battery life. If Apple can pull off replacing the HD with the 32GB flash drive, reduce the weight in half (or more) and keep the price reasonable, I’ll be in line to buy a new iBook.
