It is two days after VMWare had one of the most successful IPOs on recent years, and one day after XenSource announces that it is being acquired by Citrix. Now that money is flowing into the two major virtualization players at a rate we haven’t yet seen, what are your feelings about using Xen or VMWare on Linux? Which are you considering running on your next production network?

Definitely Xen - its architecture is much more uptodate and more promising. Also it is more fun to be the underdog.
Personally I'm hoping libvirt will support them all and we'll be able to swap vendors as easy as VMs. :)
We use QEMU internally to build binaries for various Linux distros. QEMU is really quite nice, and with the kernel KQEMU module its performance is not too bad either.
We use VirtualIron at multiple datacenters where I work. It's tons cheaper than VMWare, does 98% of what VMWare does, is built on top of Xen, and they have your FOSS component as well.
I personally use VirtualBox on my own workstation for futzing around with things when I don't need big iron power.
It looks(but correct me) I can choose between 3: open source Xen,
commercial Xen, VMware.
We are going for open source xen [with Centos].
