Fly away, fly away, Head First C#
By Brett McLaughlin
One of my jobs as series editor here in Head First land is to balance what everyone wants (can you say a Head First book a month, every month, forever?) with what's really going on (2 books released this year so far). Along those lines, the most frequent question I get is "When will Head First [insert something compelling and difficult to you here] be out?" I always have to answer those questions with great caution. So today, I want to answer the burning question, "When will Head First C# be out?"
The problem with these questions is that Head First books are fluid... or viscous... or maybe both. In short, you rarely know until a book is really turned into our production department - after writing, after reviews, after response to those reviews, after design, after editing - that it's done.
And, truth be told, even then it can be dicey.
So the only time I absolutely, without qualification, know that a book is complete, is when it leaves us and goes to the printer. Then I start to swagger around and confidently drop release dates like Michael Jackson drops cash he doesn't have.
And, I can emphatically say, Head First C# has left the building. Even more importantly, it's done, it's complete, it's being printed right now, and will start winging its way to book stores by the end of this month (November 2007). If you've been waiting to pre-order, now is the time. If you've already ordered at Amazon.com, know that your wait is almost over.
But it's really happening, it's stellar and amazing, it's mind-blowing, and it's complete. No delays (short of the printing plant being torched). So what are you waiting for? Be the first on your block to get Head First C#!
And by the way, if you still can't decide, check out this glorious preview chapter, to see what all the buzz is about.
Oh, and by the time you're done... there might be a few more books at the printer. Stay tuned!
