So did anyone else happen to see the recent article in the NY Times Magazine about Re-engineering Engineering? The article about the Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering in Needham, MA contrasts their novel yet successful approach to teaching against the current state of undergraduate studies for wannabe Engineers.
From the article:
Engineering schools had structured themselves, largely for the convenience of faculty, around a comfortable way of teaching but not the best methods of learning. There was too much note-taking in the classroom and not enough hands-on learning.
Remind anyone of a certain line of books that we all know and love?

Looking wider than colleges, I wonder how many organizations generally are centered around process instead of people. Instead of doing work people do general "stuff". Just think how great it would be if a company like O'Reilly came up with a way of using transformational fun to make an organization more effective.
