Ever wondered how Navteq keeps all that data up to date so you can make the most of those popular and useful Google Maps? In addition to a number of crews constantly driving the streets, adding POI information, recording attributes, making corrections etc… there’s also a very cool online application that lets YOU report incorrect or missing information - The Navteq Map Reporter
Using a handy Map GUI (of course), users use Map Reporter to navigate to the location of interest and provide Navteq with the requisite information. The result is current and up-to-date maps for licensees like Google maps etc…
Using Map Factory the user enters an address or descriptive location - Lat/Long is also acceptable if you happen to have the coordinates handy. Options are then presented which provide possible modifications which may help locate the exact place of interest (ie. instead of Harmony Ave. possible alternatives might include East Harmony Dr. etc…).
Next, the user select the most appropriate address descriptor and a map appears on the screen with the exsact position highlighted in a circle. A handy feedback form is then presented where the user can provide a host of additional information or corrections including:
change / add information to address
POI missing or incorrect
Traffic restriction in effect
Information about speed limits, topo features etc…
Comments and additional information
For more information and examples on using the Map Reporter see http://www.gisuser.com/content/view/10613/ or jump directly to the Navteq Map Reporter http://mapreporter.navteq.com

Well well, looks like Navteq is copying their No.1 competitor Tele Atlas ...

steven,
Well, It's about time all of the map producers had this. Why didn't they do it earlier ?
How come, even now, they don't make a big deal of the tools ? How come google maps(substitute your own service) does NOT publicize it ?
