This just out today from the consumer electronics Assoc. (CEA)… Factory-to-dealer sales of consumer electronics are projected to exceed $155 billion in 2007, or seven percent growth. CEA projects that display technologies will continue to be the star category in the industry and account for $22 billion in revenues for 2007
So, is it any wonder that we’re now seeing announcements like last week’s word that NTT DoCoMo (Japan) has acquired some 30% of Nippon Television Network Corporation (NTV). We also have Nokia throwing their hat into teh ring big-time with video/TV capable phones like the N95 (think Rock your mobile)… coming soon. The company hopes us users will start ponying up for full length videos and movies to run on the device. With the advent of apps like the Mobile TV Center which lets you watch recorded TV shows on more than 500 mobile devices the pieces are already in place. For now, LCDs and plasmas may be fuelling record numbers for the CEA, however, it might not be long before mobile devices take a big piece of that pie.
