Amazon has implemented a Web services interface that allows independent developers to access and download product information and applications for free.
With the hope that Web services will allow Amazon to “become the mall” of the Internet, Amazon is moving full-steam ahead in giving access to its data via XML and SOAP. This Reuters article lists some of the unique sites cropping up that use the online retailer’s data and applications to create unconventional storefronts.
