Photoshop Lightroom Adventure is going into reprint, which means it’s selling very well AND I have a chance to fix any small errors or typos in the book… So, dear readers and owners of my book, I’m asking for your help, and I’ll reward you if you help out.
At this moment, I personally haven’t found anything to correct. But I know even the most careful copy editing misses something so I’m sure one of you with the book will come up with corrections for me to report to the publisher. Heck, when I was in High School I remember one of my especially smart friends even found a typo in the American edition of Charles Dickens’, A Tale of Two Cities. The publisher wrote back thanking my friend for his discovery and saying in all the years the book has been in print he was the first to notice the error.
Anyway, all this needs to happen really quickly. So, for the first five people who report bona fide errors or typos from the book I’ll send a free copy of the corrected reprint when it’s out. Let the race begin!
PS. In case you haven’t heard, last week at Photo World in Las Vegas, Adobe announced price drops for Photoshop Lightroom up to $150 based on upgrading or buying Photoshop CS3 or Photoshop CS3 Extended. This got me thinking…Lightroom currently retails for $299, right? But what is the best price and where can you find it? I’ve seen professional associations like the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP) offer Lightroom to its membership for $199, but you need to be a member of that exclusive club. Can anyone out there share where they’ve found the best price? No rewards for this, just my personal thanks!
Sadly, the online Apple Store in the UK doesn't carry Lightroom. Otherwise I could pursue an education discount as a university employee.
Have found another glitch. At the bottom of page 73 the text mentions the 5-Star Rating is Equal filter being enabled, but Figure 3-88 shows the 5-Star Greater Than or Equal To being enabled.
A couple more (for free !). P. 220, fig 8-35: the tint slider is on 89, and reported as 10. P. 221, fig 8-37: two Saturation boxes instead of Saturation and Luminance.
I think that I have found two other mistakes. In Figure 1-15 on page 7, the grid icon is circled rather than the navigator arrows as indicated in the text next to the figure. On page 10, the menu bar is missing in Figure 1-18 so you don't see any difference between Figures 1-18 and 1-19 as far as the menu bar is concerned.

Fantastic book! Thanks for the great work. In terms of errata, on p. 278 under "Print Resolution" you have "or lower values between 42 and 480 ppi", while the corresponding figure 11-8 shows "between 72 and 480".
On page 7, in Figure 1-15, the pop-up menu is not circled in the figure contrary to the claim in the next to last sentence of the text referring to this figure.
I believe I found another error similar to Pascal's. On page 265, figure 10-28, the image indicates an Opacity setting of 50% and an angle of 45 degrees while you write 100% and 75 degrees.

I also want to compliment you on your book. It was the first book I bought when I started experimenting with Lightroom and there has been no regret. Well done.
I discovered a problem on page 45, last paragraph, third sentence. You write that one can hold the Option key (I'm assuming this is for a Mac) or the (Alt) key (I'm assuming this is for the PC) while one clicks the desktop startup icon in order to get a dialog box where one can choose which catalog to start with. On a PC, holding the Alt key brings up the Properties box for the icon. One needs to hold down the Ctrl key in order to get the Catalog Dialog box.

p. 283. Bottom fig. 11-23 has a stroke border width of 10 pt. The facing text reports 20 pt.

OK, I found the typo I mentioned before. On page 3 where the keyboard commands are given for selecting modules, the one for Develop is missing the closing bracket.
If you're a student.. or play one on TV, Apple will sell you Lightroom for 150 under its EDU discount program.. Now what college did you register at again....

I do recall spotting a typo but of course I can't find it now. One little tip you may want to add about entering keywords, that you don't seem to cover, is the automatic creation of parent-child relationships. If you type the keyword "rose>flower" the effect is to add both flower and rose to the keyword list with rose as a child of flower. Future entry of rose will then implicitly add flower too. I find that to be quite a useful feature.
