Wow. That sounds like a real hassle just to get an environment installed. You don't sound nearly as annoyed as I would expect. It sounds like death by a thousand tiny paper cuts.

  The most frustrating part of the process was just downloading the archives. After that, having the installer say "You're missing a dependency" was almost painless.
