The first time I heard the above Sun Microsystems adage many decades ago I interpreted the word "network" to mean participation by you and I - not cables and packets. I'm sure I was not alone in this interpretation. Allowing the you�s and I�s of this world to be able to engage in services in a value adding way inevitably leads to services that are much more relevant, more patronised and more dynamic. I thoroughly enjoyed this article by Tim O�Reilly however Web 2.0 is not a new social order for many of us have already been thinking that way for a very long time.
