Hi David,

Glad that you got the channel order at the input of ffmpegX AC3 encoder sorted out. Although I suggested ffmpegX, I never tested the whole thing out except for file compatibility (going from one app to the other).

I think it's a great idea that you made this feature on surround "mastering" to DVD/CD. Although much related, mastering surround to DVD/CD and recording/creating for surround sound are separate issues with their own technical idiosyncrasies.

Regards,

Daniel

    Thanks, Daniel.

I realize I’ve only scratched the surface here and there are still many aesthetic and technical details to explore. I was hoping that once people see how easy it is, they’ll be enticed to do just that. By burning a DVD as an image file, you can experiment without even wasting plastic.

tks very much for the article david. as you might remember i experimented with this in the context of the h2 review by following yours and marks and daniels breadcrumbs and finally managed to create a dts 5.1 audio dvd and fully agree with you about the eureka factor.

i remember when the first dts dvds came out and back then you paid a premium for those with dts enhanced sound so when i managed to create one myself without a $1k program or $10k worth of audio gear i was amazed.
