When you hold play the zune will go on standby mode which doesn't really turn it off and wastes battery not much but if you want a complete shutdown hold back and down the Zune will shut down when u turn it on the Zune logo appears it saves battery.

    Thank you for all the information in your newsletter. One question I have is how to keep the Zune powered up when attached as an Aux to a cd/receiver/speaker system. I have just plugged it into a new terrific system using the Aux cable, but think the battery will cause a lapse well before I want to stop listenting to music today. Can you help here please? Thank you,
