Case in point. I want to share a utility with a windows user. If he could use the web based app (which happens to be running on Linux) and have the result returned to him, we can both benefit.


Does it really need to be browser based? Surely there could be command line apps that would suffice for many of the utilities that we use daiy? Kiss principle?



A problem to be addressed is security. Many of my shell scripts crawl over directories. I would be cautious about letting remote software have access to my disk. We'd need some sort of trust model to let url A in, but exclude url B.
