Tommy -- if you've successfully converted your system to a dual boot system, Ubuntu itself may recognize your USB memory stick. I have a "PNY Attache" memory stick, and as soon as I plug it into a USB slot when I'm booted in Ubuntu, Ubuntu recognizes the device.
