The types of all Objects are typechecked, but the types of Objects stored in an array object are not - this produces a lot of security flaws. If an Object was a kind of an Array and not the other way around, none of this would be possible. Of course, making an array a basic type in an object language is rather un-PC, but it would also make all the proposed vector extensions very easy. |
