I follows all the steps in a Sony VAIO PCG-GRX707. I stop in the point that as I have 2 logical units (C: y D: <-factory restore). So, I have a USB External Hard Disk with sufficient space.

I runned everything again: I didn't use fb800, and linux found the hard disk. But, at this time I haven't backup my data.

What do you think about to install Ubuntu in a USB Hard disk follow the exact steps, could be this possible?

Give me a week and I'll try it. But I'd to hear comments. Thanks!.

I think the question will be whether the USB hard disk can be made bootable. A bootloader may "see" a disk, but if it doesn't consider the disk a bootable device, then you won't be able to boot from it.
