Configuring Database Access in Eclipse 3.0 with SQLExplorer
Subject:   installation on MacOS X
Date:   2005-10-12 16:52:21
From:   monica1
I tried to install SQLExplorer on a MacOS 10.4.2 machine. I have Eclpse 3.1.0, mysql-standard-4.1.14-apple-darwin8.2.0-powerpc-64bit and mysql-connector-java-3.1.11 installed.
When I try to modify the driver as described in Figure 6 clicking the 'OK'button does not work (it appears norma, is not grayed out).
Can someone help a complete programming novice?

To configure MySQL driver setting add the MySQL driver jar file with the Add button and
specify the connection URL and the Driver classname.

What are the driver settings in the MMMySQL Driver?

I added mysql-connector-java-3.1.10-bin-g.jar wtih the Add button to that Extra Class Path, Driver class name is I also tried com.mysql.jdbc.Driver as the Driver Class Name, didn't work.
Does it matter where the mysql-connector-java-3.1.10-bin-g.jar is located? I have it in /Applications/Eclipse/mysql-connector-java-3.1.10.
      Thank you!

        Is the connection url specified?

Select the mysql-connector-java-3.1.10-bin.jar file instead of the mysql-connector-java-3.1.10-bin-g.jar file.

Does the OK button get selected for some other database?

could'nt get it to work with the mysql-connector-java-3.1.10-bin.jar either. OK button works for other databases like Oracle OCI or Mimer SQL.
